Estonian labour law — what every employer must know
Estonia's Employment Contracts Act (töölepinguseadus) gives employees strong protections. Getting it wrong can be costly. We make sure your contracts and HR processes are compliant from the start.
- Written employment contract required before first day of work
- Trial period maximum 4 months, must be stated in contract
- Minimum notice period 15–90 days depending on tenure
- Employer must register employee in EMTA before work starts
- Non-competition clauses require compensation to be valid
- Remote work arrangements must be agreed in writing
